This month was crazy with exams, moving out of my university apartment, and applying for jobs. I was somewhat of a slacker this month. 🙈

I am starting to be approached more often for book reviews. FALL OF THE DRAGON PRINCE has been one of my first eARC reviews! 🐉 Don't be fooled by the cover, because this book is quite good. And there is a giveaway until 2/8/17 on Goodreads. Plus, check out my review on Pore Over the Pages (link in bio). 🐉 Synopsis: Toran joined the five realms and tied their destinies to the survival of his secret heirs. But the king is now dead and his enemies gather. Reann, a serving girl and self-appointed librarian of Toran’s estate, has a chance to unravel the greatest mystery in the realm. On the other side of the kingdom, Terith and the other dragon riders fight to stop the invasion that would mean the fall of the empire. In this cross-country dragon race, Terith faces a black-hearted traitor with even darker purposes, to win the kingdom and the heart of the woman he loves. One rider will fall; one fate will rise. 🐉 #bookblogger #bookreview #bookblog #yabook #FallOfTheDragonPrince #ForgottenHeirsTrilogy #JollyFishPress #PoreOverThePages

I am currently sick and today is the first day of my University’s spring break. This is not a good combination because I can’t fully enjoy my time off if I’m ill, but hopefully this time off will give me time to rest and recover. I am currently reading Rebel of the Sands. My next read with either be Wintersong or Daughter of the Pirate King. This semester at my college seems to be going by very fast, and I hope that trend will continue in the second half because I am ready for summer.

Year in Review

This year has been a whirlwind. I started my Pore Over the Pages blog on May 13, 2016. This blog has furthered my love of books. The stories, the characters, the worlds, are all gateways for escape and perspective. I still believe that reading is essential for education and change.

While I still haven’t connected as well as I would like to those in this community, I am still grateful to be a part of it. The Book Community has introduced me to so many new and interesting books that I would have never bought and read without their recommendation. Despite the fluctuating drama in the Twitterverse, I still believe that we all are generally positing, kind, and freakish book-lovers. My eyes have been opened to the issues of diversity; while I will continue to read my favorite books and authors, this year I will strive to read more diverse books and be open-minded.

I want to thank everyone who has followed this blog and who has commented and liked my posts. You are all amazing and I’m so glad that others share my passion for books.

November Wrap Up 2016

But, seriously, how is November over already? Thanksgiving break has passed and now I’m on the final streach towards the end of the semester. Christmas is so close I can already hear the music and see the decorations. On my Christmas list: books! Not very surprising, huh?

October Wrap Up 2016

I was so slow on reviews this month (most likely due to the fact that I’ve only finished two book in the past four weeks). I have had NO time to read. My posts weren’t that diverse, but I’m hoping to get more creative next month. Bear with me in my time of accademic strife.

I’m currently still reading Empire of Storms. Next, I hope to start Six of Crows. I’ve heard so much about this series, and I hope it lives up to the hype. The release I’m most looking forward to in November is Heartless by Marissa Meyer.

Halloween has come and gone. I hope everyone was safe and got to have fun. Here are my favorite pumpkin/Halloween bookstagram posts:

September 2016 Owlcrate Unboxing

I liked the August Owlcrate so much and I heard the September box would be the best ever, so I bought myself another one.

The Book

  • Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake I’ve heard so much about this book. I didn’t actually have it on my to-read list when I found in in the Owlcrate, but I’m quite excited to read it. It’s certainly on my TBR pile now.

The Goodies

  • Six of Crows bookmark I can now use this when I read Six of Crows for the first time!
  • Remade There are a bunch of authors on the cover, including Kiersten White. This is a YA adventure in a series of 15. The story starts 10/14/16, so modern the date occurred last week. Teen live in an apocalyptic world filled with mechanical horrors, and they must search for answers.
  • Three Dark Crowns: map of Fennbirn The map in the book is blown up in size.
  • Signed bookplate The kind Kendare Blake signed a bunch of tags for Owlcrate subscribers.
  • Darkness owlcrate button This button is so cute. At the moment, it is securely fastened on my backpack.
  • Celaena’s cake candle I can’t light candles in my dorm room, but I still love to look at it. The smell didn’t scream chocolate cake to me, but it still made me hungry.
  • Note from Kendare Blake The author of Three Dark Crowns wrote an adorable and crateive note to those who recieved this box.
  • Moon Chosen passport P.C. Cast’s new book is promoted in this passport filled with pictures and snippets.
  • Three Dark Crowns: fortune teller Oh my gosh! I made so many paper fortune tellers when I was younger. It was the thing to do back in elementary and middle school. Maybe they are coming back. Or maybe Owlcrate is indulging my inner child.
  • Darkness owlcrate spoiler
  • Fortune telling bath bomb One word: Awesome!
  • Miss Peregrine’s pencil case – This Miss Peregrine’s pencil case is unique and useful. I still haven’t seen the movie yet.

The Overview

  • 5/5 This box was amazing. I’m so glad I purchased it.

Next Month

  • Once Upon a Dream

September Wrap Up 2016

Whew. Looking back on September, I did a lot more than I thought I did. However, with school and work taking over my life I haven’t been blogging as much as I would like. It’s the price I pay for good grades.

I finished Aentee’s (Read at Midnight and @readatmidnight#ReadThemAllThon with time to spare. As my first read-a-thon, I had so much fun. I hope to join others in the future. Here is my #ReadThemAllThon Reflection. Overall, Charmander –> Charmeleon –> Charizard and I ended with 854 CP.

Fact of the Week:

  1. 9/4/16
  2. 9/10/16
  3. 9/17/16
  4. 9/24/16

  1. August 2016 Owlcrate Unboxing I received my first Owlcrate. This was a gift from my family for my birthday. I loved the content and the book, P.S. I Like You by Kasie West. I had considered buying the book, but was glad I didn’t when I found it inside by bookly treasure chest.
  2. Blogger Recognition Award I was nominated for my first award. I want to thank M (mreadsbooks) @ A Blog of One’s Own (post) for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award. This award explains why I started my blog and gives some underdeveloped device for other bloggers. It was so hard finding nominees for this blog, but in the process I found some amazing blogs that I would have never discovered otherwise.
  3. How to Train Your Dragon Book Tag (Original) I CREATED MY OWN BOOK TAG! I am so proud of the is book tag. I spent a lot of time on this. From initial feedback it seems like people are enjoying it, despite its lengthiness. If you want to participate, feel free! Comment on my tag and I’ll add you to my tag list.
  4. I hit the milestone of publishing 100 blog posts!
